Ideas from Odd Places

Embarking on a competition with friends to rack up the most steps or miles of walking in a six-week period, today I followed my well-worn path through downtown Bremerton. It takes me out to public dock at the marina and among the usual suspects, I spy some seagull friends. They are so ordinary and so numerous around here but I just can’t help looking at their soft clean white under feathers (how do they keep so clean as scavengers?) and their silly pink feet, so challenged walking on the dock. I dream of capturing pictures of them up close in various gawky poses- fuel for future block prints or paintings. But, happy as they are to have me around in case some Clif Bar crumbs tumble out of my pocket, they have about a 6 foot “danger” radius. But those feet! They’re just so great, I can’t stop running them through the idea factory in my brain.
