T-Minus 3 Days to Departure
I’m not a fan of Murphy’s Law by any means. I think it’s silly, and easily disproven. But…every now and then of course life isn’t smooth- yes, even in the days before a vacation. Last week Tom had a fever and a deep cough since. On top of that he contracted swimmer’s itch (maybe?) while lake fishing and soon the rash covered his whole body. And then I received a gift of a cold or sinus infection from not one, but perhaps 2 granddaughters (but I wouldn’t trade those visits for the world, even so) ! On the other hand, we’ve been graced with a week of 70-80 degree weather here at the beginning of May in the Northwest- and it’s glorious! The lilac is blooming, plum tree is leafing, and potted flowers exploding. The weather is looking a little blah in the Cotswolds- some rain, some sun (hopefully), some temps in the 50s. But if we didn’t like 50s, we certainly wouldn’t choose to walk in England! Speaking of that choice, I must share our reason for returning to England for a long-distance walk along the entire 102-mile Cotswold Way starting this week: 1. It’s our 20th anniversary in June, hoopaaaa! 2. We love to go on moderately strenuous adventures for our vacations. 3. We loved our 200-mile Coast to Coast walk in 2023 but needed something a little shorter this go round, 4. We love lambs, 5. We’re not big Jane Austen fans but the countryside, villages, architecture and history are all a big draw, 6. For the joy of the trail!
